Each spring University of South Carolina Beaufort honors outstanding students through the University's Spring Academic Awards ceremony. Hannah Merchant is the 2022 Pamela J. Cooper Outstanding Communication Studies Student of the Year.

Nine students from South Carolina colleges and universities won 2021 Tourism Student Awards for outstanding academic achievement in culinary, hospitality, and tourism studies. Smalls, who is from Beaufort, will graduate in May 2022 with a B.A. in Communication Studies. As part of this co-production by South Carolina Educational Television (SCETV) and USCB, he has worked as a camera operator.

Peach, who is from Cumming, Ga., will graduate in May 2022 with a B.A. in Communication Studies. As part of this co-production by South Carolina Educational Television (SCETV) and USCB, she has worked as a content creator.

Aldrich, who is from Moncks Corner, SC, will graduate in May 2022 with a B.A. in Communication Studies. As part of this co-production by South Carolina Educational Television (SCETV) and USCB, she has worked as a student producer.

Sierra Brown, a USCB Nursing student in the Beaufort College Honors program, was awarded the Outstanding First-Year Student of the Year award on April 13.

University of South Carolina Beaufort's Karina Julia Dorris has been selected by the University of South Carolina-Columbia TRIO Department to become a Ronald E. McNair Scholar. Dorris is from Bluffton, SC and graduated from Bluffton High in 2021. She will graduate from USCB in 2025 with a B.S.N. in Nursing.

Campus Compact, national coalition of colleges and universities working to advance the public purposes of higher education, has named 173 student civic leaders who will make up the organization's 2022-2023 cohort of Newman Civic Fellows. Richard Bennett, a junior majoring in Human Services at University of South Carolina Beaufort, will join students from 38 states, Washington, D.C., and Mexico to form the cohort.

Moreno Nava, a Nursing major at the University of South Carolina Beaufort, recently won a highly competitive $10,000 scholarship from the National Hispanic Health Foundation (NHHF). She is one of only two nursing students chosen for this award and the only undergraduate. She will graduate from USCB with a B.S.N. in Nursing in May 2023.
